Despite being flagged by the White House, the publicly funded soccer club Varbergs BoIS has hired Johan Victorin to coach impressionable young boys – financed with taxpayer money through the Swedish Sports Confederation (Riksidrottsförbundet).
When I contacted club chairman Mats Janson for a comment about the organization’s connection to a known left-wing extremist – and whether the children risk being influenced or radicalized – his response was brief: “No comments.”
During my visit to one of the training sessions led by Victorin, I was harassed by a parent who dismissed the criticism as “right-wing extremism” – without reflecting on the seriousness of the allegations.
